Collaborative Ecosystem Recovery Through Planting Activity

North Tapadaka, 20/01/2018. Collaborative ecosystem recovery activity between Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park (BNWNP) and the communities at rehabilitation zone, is a helpful participatory conservation effort for protected area to keep sustainability not only inside the area but also outside the area.

In a way to recover the ecosystem collaboratively together with the communities at rehabilitation zone, Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park conducting MoU Signing on partnership draft regarding seed handover, discussion and premier planting on Saturday January 20 2018. The event was attended by the head of agricultural department from Bolmong district, EPASS, BNWNP, Southeast Dumongga sub-district head, KPH region 1 Bolmong, North Tapadaka Sanagadi, head of BPD, Tapalinow group, Motobatu group and North Tapadaka community.

The activity is held in North Tapadaka resort office. Planting target in an area of 10 ha located at rehabilitation zone of Tolongsingon riverbank and surroundings. The ecosystem recovery is conducted through nutmeg planting, candlenut planting, nantu and cempaka planting as much as 5.834 seeds. The planting activity held by every group member with assistance from resort officer for 2 weeks long.

In the discussion, Tapalinow community group and Motobatu community group want that planting start can be re-adjusted matching with its natural condition so that the result will be more fruitful. The communities are ready voluntarily helping the planting process and maintain the restoration plants.

Activity like this is expected to be an instance in protected area management that collaboratively held and involved communities directly in maintaining the protected area sustainability.
